Emilio Amilibia finished his otorhinolaryngology residency at the Bellvitge University Hospital in 1999 and completed his PhD in 2018. He complemented his training in otology and skull base surgery with two stays in internationally renowned centers, at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles (USA) in 2007 and at the Gruppo Otologico in Piacenza (Italy) in 2010. Since 2012, he has worked in the Otology and Skull Base Surgery Section of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HGTIP), was Chief of the Division of the Otology and Skull Base Surgery Section until 2023 and was Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology HGTIP since 2023.
His area of interest has focused on surgical treatment and hearing rehabilitation with implantable devices in sporadic vestibular schwannoma (SV) and Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). Since 2015 he is secretary of the CSUR Phakomatosis Functional Unit of the HGTIP-IGTP-IC and member of the European Reference Networks Genturis (Genetic Tumour Syndromes).
In the field of research, his interest has focused on Vestibular Schwannoma and NF2. He is a member of the Neurofibromatosis Research Group (GRNF 2021 SGR 00967)
