Area Manager at MED-EL (Sophia Antipolis, France) since 2023 

Graduated from Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité (SUPELEC, Paris) in 1987  

 Since 1988, Michel Beliaeff has worked in the field of Hearing Implants. He developed electrode arrays, single and multi-channel cochlear implants during its early years at MXM (1988-1997) in France. 

He then joined Symphonix Cie and Siemens Audiologie (1997/2003) to develop the VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE middle ear implant (VSB). In 2003, MED-EL took over the business of the VSB, Michel Beliaeff became Area Manager for France. Since then, he worked to develop and distribute revolutionary hearing devices in its area, facilitating the access to these devices through reimbursements for Cochlear Implants, Bone Conduction Hearing devices, VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE and BONEBRIDGE . 

For more than 35 years now, Michel Beliaeff became an hearing implant expert, developping its skills as a biomedical electrical engineer : “I’m proud to have participated in the fast development of these technologies and their access to thousands of hearing impaired people. I remain passionate about research in Otology and High-Tech medical devices. I learned a lot from professional peers and friends (ENT surgeons, engineers, audiologists) about middle ear and CI surgery, Audiology, signal processing, electrode design, electrophysiology but also about the management of a MED-EL subsidiary covering a large area (France, Belgium, north Africa and subSaharian African countries)”.
