Philippe Lefebvre received his medical degree in 1987 and its PhD in 1991 (University of Liège, Belgium). He was appointed as professor in 1997 and became chairman and professor of otorhinolaryngology at the University of Liège in 2002. He did a fellowship in advanced otology and skull base surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York (USA). His main interest is otology, skull base surgery and middle ear and cochlear implant. He is conducting research in the field of the neurobiology of the inner ear with special interests in regeneration of hair cells and auditory neurons, in pharmacotherapy of the inner ear and development of the cochlea. He is involved in clinical research in the field of cochlear implant and was the first to implant the fully implantable cochlear implant of MEDEL in 2020.
